Lesley Giles/ Lesley is an English artist from London; she trained at Goldsmiths & the Royal College of Art. She has lived in Daytona Beach for the past five years where she has painted her experiences of Florida through a series of journeys along A1A (Oceanshore Boulevard).
Her prevailing theme is the color & light that illuminate all the honky tonk structures that punctuate the Florida landscape. “Whether it is strong sunshine or threatening thunderstorms the light in Florida is always TROPICAL”.
Lesley compares her journey to Florida with that of an earlier RCA alumni, David Hockney. He famously moved to California in the late sixties.
