Banner Commission

In 2007 the company commissioned leading print makers and artists, Denise Wyllie and Clare O’Hagan to produce a screen printed banner entitled Transformations in Art & Science

The 20 metre artwork which now hangs in the central stairwell of Royal Mint Court, examines the growing awareness of the biological blue print, DNA and the vital role it plays in the development of medical research and drug therapy.

It celebrates the life and work of scientists engaged in Cancer Research and all who are touched by this.

The multi layered piece features cross-media textile work incorporating biotechnical images, neon coloured inks, digital images and bonding, plastics and a brightly coloured print double helix that stretches the entire length of the fabric.

Denise and Clare spent two years with Professor John Hartley’s team at University College, London as artists in residence to produce this spectacular work.
